“B.D.S.L. Mahila College, Ghatsila, established in 1982, by Late Bal Deo Das Sant Lal is the only Mahila College of this tribal dominated Ghatsila Sub-Division of East Singhbhum District. The institution, situated close to NH-33, about 45 km away from Jamshedpur, today is the only women’s college in the Ghatsila sub-division with permanent affiliation from Kolhan University, Chaibasa. The college has acquired constant recognition for education, examination and extra curricular activities. Our students gets appreciation and prizes at state and national level.
It is imparting higher education up to Degree (Hons. Standard) in Arts and Commerce faculties for more than last 30 years. The College has got Permanent Affiliation in B.A. & B. Com. in the year 1986 and 2011 (for Pass & Hons. Courses respectively). There are 750 girl students in this college pursuing higher studies. Most of them belong to ST, SC & OBC category.
As the National Highway lying near, as well as the main road joining the college to rest of the city, there is no lack of communication or transport conveniences. Situated at the tri-way among the states of Jharkhand-West Bengal and Orissa, this institution does acknowledge and understand its mighty responsibilities. The awareness for its original duties is the basic strength of this college.
B.D.S.L. Mahila College, Ghatsila is a residential College. The College premise includes two well furnished Hostel with capacity of 300 & 100 students (Welfare Hostel) respectively. The 3 stairs Hostel building has the ideal atmosphere for studies. The Welfare Dept. has also provided a ‘state of the art’ Hostel for ST Students. Poor girl students of villages of remote areas take admission in this College, stay in the College Hostels and continue their studies. The college has plans to run various vocational & job oriented courses including Women’s B.Ed., Tribal Studies, and Functional English, Handicrafts and PG courses in near future.
This College has been imparting education in Arts & Commerce at degree level, and has been granted permanent affiliation in the subject -Bengali, Hindi, Economics, English, History, Pol. Science, Psychology and Santhali. (Arts Faculty) and All groups (Commerce Faculty).
Admission in Gen. & Hons. Classes is granted as per the norms of Kolhan University, Chaibasa.All students belongs to ST, SC and BC-1 category applies for online Scholarship (Post Matric Scholarship) offered by the Welfare Dept. of state government each year to avail the financial aid for their studies.
The college team (comprises of all teaching and non-teaching staffs) do give special attention to the educational problems of the students and tries to cater their individual needs. Anti-Ragging Cell, Women’s Grievances Redressal Cell is there to support the students on & off the campus. The College provides in depth quality education, tight discipline and ideal teacher-student unified relation.
