This College has prohibited any type of act of Ragging. Ragging is a serious offense as per the regulations of UGC, 2009. Any complaint must be brought to the notice of the following committee:
Ragging" means "Causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by way of practical joke or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violates his/her person or exposes him/her to ridicule from doing any lawful act. By intimidating, wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining, or injuring him or by using criminal force on him/her or by holding out to him/her any threat of intimidation, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal force" as per Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999. Punjab Government has also adopted the Punjab Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Bill, 2013, to ban ragging in the state.By anti ragging 3rd amendment dated 29th June, 2016 in UGC Regulations on Curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 the following have been added to the definition of Ragging - any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background.
Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in this college including in its departments, constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential, sports, cafeteria, etc.) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation of students whether public or private. The college shall take strict action including but not limited to criminal proceeding and/or cancellation of admission against those found guilty of ragging and/or of abetting ragging and the burden of proof shall hereby lie on the perpetrator of alleged ragging and not on the victim. An offense of Ragging may be charged either on a written complaint by the affected or on independent finding of the Anti Ragging Cell.
The College is bound by the UGC Regulations on 'Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009'. The college has founded an Anti – Ragging Cell which governs the prevention of any means of Ragging either within or outside the college. There have been no incidents of Ragging at GSSDGS Khalsa College, Patiala till date.
All students admitted to the college and their parents are hereby informed to go through the guidelines on anti ragging:
It is mandatory for all the students and parents to submit an affidavit in the prescribed format given on https://www.antiragging.in/Site/Affidavits_registration_form.aspx and submit the affidavit on the day of admission at the college office. Failing to comply with the above requirements will result in cancellation of admission.
Please note that there are two affidavits – one to be submitted by the student and another to be submitted by the parent.
