Gender equality is a serious issue that needs our concern in modern time. It is a core factor in establishing balance in human society. Traditionally, in a patriarchal social setup like in our country, the women are always getting deprived of their human rights and human needs, and their interests are hindered by gender based discrimination. Thus, we must learn from Dr. BhimraoAmbedkar’s words, “I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved.”
