Gender equality is a serious issue that needs our concern in modern time. It is a core factor in establishing balance in human society. Traditionally, in a patriarchal social setup like in our country, the women are always getting deprived of their human rights and human needs, and their interests are hindered by gender based discrimination. Thus, we must learn from Dr. BhimraoAmbedkar’s words, “I measure the progress of a community by the degree of progress which women have achieved.”


B.D.S.L. Mahila College, Ghatshila organizing a National Seminar on ‘Gender Disparity in Education & Workplace’ at our Campus on 5th August, 2018 (Sunday). Anjali Sinha, (Founder member of StriMuktiSangthan) a renowned women’s right activist, writer and counselor based in New Delhi, will join us as Chief Speaker on the day. In panel will be Barnali Chakraborty, Secretary- YUVA, Jamshedpur, an activist for gender sensitization and Women’s right and JyotiLakra, a renowned Adiwasi poetess& author from Ranchi. She has poems like “Bans Bakhar”, “Tumhara Dar”& Short Stories “Bodh” & “KorainDuba” to her credit.


Sub topics include:

  • Gender equality’s role in achieving economic Development
  • Discourse of masculine superiority in our Society
  • Gender equality & family division of labor
  • Gender empowerment & the structure of economy in respect of women emancipation affect labor force
  • Gender empowerment through modern feminist theories of Simone De Beauvoir, Judith Butler, Sarojini Sahoo, Nivedita Menon etc.


Earnest write-ups are invited on these topics from Students, Research Scholars and Faculties. The synopsis in about 500 words (either in English or Hindi) along with your brief Bio-data may be emailed to: This email address is being protected from spambots. Participants would submit their full paper (Hard copy,) typed either in Hindi or English, at the time of Registration on the day of event.

Registration Fee is to be remitted as below:

Rs. 250.00 only for Students/Researchers

Rs. 700.00 only for Faculty

(Please note that, all participants have to submit the hard copy at registration counter.)
